VOLUNTEER VIRTUS TRAINING

Kim Brown is the Volunteer Coordinator for the Catholic Community of Ascension & St. Augustine parish.  All potential and current parish volunteers should contact Kim in the parish office by emailing kim@ccasta.org for more information on the requirements for all parish volunteers. 

In 2017 the Archdiocese of Baltimore began utilizing the VIRTUS system. Our parish supports and complies with the Archdiocese of Baltimore policies and practices creating and maintaining a safe environment for our children and youth.  The process ensures the safety, protection, and care of minors and is an Archdiocesan requirement for anyone volunteering with The Catholic Community of Ascension & St. Augustine.

All employees and adult volunteers (18 and over), and youth volunteers (14-17), are required to adhere to this policy. Please register under the Catholic Community of Ascension & St. Augustine.

All adult volunteers WITHOUT substantial contact with children must:

Complete volunteer registration through our online volunteer management site VIRTUS

•     Review the Statement of Policy for the Protection of Children and Youth
•     Review the Code of Conduct for Church Personnel

All new adult volunteers WITH substantial contact with children must:

Complete volunteer registration through our online volunteer management site VIRTUS and complete the online child protection training.

•    Complete online child protection training
•    Background check with 3 references
•    Review the statement of Policy for the Protection of Children and Youth
•    Review the Code of Conduct for Church Personal

All youth volunteers ages 14-17 years of age must:

•    Worthy of the Call Training*
•    Complete a paper copy of the Volunteer Application form with 3 references signed by the youth and parent/guardian.
•    Review the Statement of Policy for the Protection of Children and Youth
•    Review the Code of Conduct for Church Personnel

*Worthy of the Call Training is not available online. Please contact Kim Brown at
